Soldiers of the Queen, Commandos & Rangers...

Back with another assortment for your perusal...

Soldiers of the Queen

I finished off my Colonial British Gatling Gun chaps (1/72 HaT plastic)- apologies for any uniform inaccuracies, they are intended as more of an "Imagi-Nation" Colonial force that could face off against a variety of foes.
I decided to photograph them outside, and I'm quite pleased with the results- they look like they could be somewhere in Africa or the North-Western Frontier of India:

Commandos

I have finished the two British WW2 commando figures from Elhiem (20mm metal) - they just needed their bases doing and a coat of clear Matt varnish:

Rangers

Finally, remember the 1/72 Lord of the Rings Rangers I was painting for my son's collection? Well here are the first three finished- he will base them in element stands later-  they are from Airfix Robin Hood and Caesar Miniatures Adventurers sets. The last photo is a Work in Progress shot of the next three (all Airfix):

  1. Wonderful work all around. Even if it's not my period, I still love seeing old colonial brits, with their bright red suits and pith helmets!

I must admit I have a soft spot for that Colonial stuff too- tally ho!

  2. great work! those colonials look nice and the airfix guys are one of the most usable/convertable sets I have ever seen... LOTR rangers is a good idea, I am converting them into pirates and sailors for the 18th century an unenviable task I must say.

    1. What colour did you do the helmets? They look great.

    2. Thanks Nick :)
Helmets? hmmm...I think they had a base of buff or Desert Stone, then a Sepia wash, then go back over with Desert Stone, but leaving some "stripes" to mark the "sections" of the helmet(not sure of the correct terms). The helmet band thing was base of Vallejo Deck Tan, Sepia wash, highlighted with white. I hope that makes sense. If I had a bit more forethought I would make notes of what I used for future reference.

17th Century Characters...mostly

Here are some 17th Century character miniatures I finished recently.  28mm metal, mostly from Wargamer Poland: https://sklep.wargamer.pl/gb...
