Home Guard/Early War British/Dad's Army

I have completed the Dad's Army/Home Guard/Early War British commission for a customer - he will be doing the basing.
I am quite pleased with how these turned out, and they were great fun to paint. All the figures are from the 28mm Wargames Foundry sets and very characterful they are too.

I have used some pictures of Tony Barton's wonderful 1/6th scale figures as reference for Home Guard uniform,  in addition to looking at stills from "Dad's Army" for the character figures.

  1. Love them! Excellent work! I have had this set to paint up for about a year now. Too scared in case I screw up!

  2. Excellent stuff! The new Dad's Army movie is being filmed in the next town to ours - Bridlington - at the moment, so this is a bit of a hot topic. I would really like to have a go at these myself, so this is excellent reference. Well done! Brilliant subject. :)

    1. Cool, I saw some stuff online about the cast etc., I hope they do the original justice.
I'm glad you like the figures.

  3. Top notch job...as per usual. I could hear the theme in my head as I went from pic to pic.

    1. Cheers mate. Yes it's a theme that gets played often in our house, we have the DVD boxed set and our teenagers still love to watch the show.

  4. Stunning work.
After Warlord Games published their Dad's Army set I didn't remember the Foundry ones. Thanks for bringing them back into mind. Very nice figures which your paintjob embellished excellently.

    1. I'm glad you like them Stefan. Yes the two sets are quite different, I think that the older Foundry ones hold up really well and in some cases look better, to my eye, at capturing the look.
