Tournament Knights

G'day all, today we step back to some medieval shenanigans. I have recently been working on some 28mm tournament knights from Curteys Miniatures, the sets included heraldic decals which were something of a challenge to apply but came out looking quite smart I think. No prizes for spotting the decals I put on upside down and discovered too late :-(

Next post will hopefully be some modern day Aussies.

  1. They look fantastic and the upside down one is not that obvious! At least it wasn't an upside down lion!

    1. Hehe, yeah I would have noticed a Lion Rampant standing on his head.
I think there's about three upside down stars in total unfortunately.
I'm glad you liked them Rodger, in spite of my mishaps :-)

  2. Nice looking figures. Can I suggest (if you haven't already) that you use a decal softener. I found the decals/transfer quite hard to apply especially where the material folds such as the barding. The softener helps a great deal.

    1. Thanks Matt.
Actually I did use decal softener, I had to use quite a bit actually in order to get the decals to apply adequately to the curving surfaces & folds- it just wouldn't have worked without it.

  3. Beautiful models. I have been doing a fast army painter job on medieval soldiers to get them onto the battlefield. They don't look as nice as yours though. :)

    1. Cheers John. I have a few more to do, but unfortunately the sets were missing some parts, now waiting for heads & weapons from Curteys.
The decals really do help to smarten them up- can't imagine how long it would take me to paint them by hand!

    1. Hi Phil, thanks, I quite like how the stripey lance turned out :-)

  6. Amazing Work. They remind me of my Bretonnian Knights from Warhammer Fantasy Battle. These definitely are looking more regal and real though.
