I think I will leave out trying to add flesh, asking for trouble for me to attempt that! When you loo...Good question, I find glasses tricky. When you look at the characters from the show in the church hall, you can pretty much see through the lenses of their glasses, so their eyes would be visible, except perhaps for a glint of artificial light. When they are outdoors during daylight patrols I would expect there would be greater reflectivity from the brighter light of the sun. At this scale I find it hard to give a completely realistic representation of spectacles, I think what I have done is more of a "caricature".
I paint the frames in a dark colour and highlight with a grey. The lenses usually get a bluish grey colour - you could add some flesh to this to give the impression of the face behind the lense. I try to give two tiny dots of an off white in the upper left of the lenses. A slightly darker off white fine line is applied in the bottom right of the lenses. These hopefully give the impression of glinting glass. I have done something similar in the lense of the headlamp in the pictures above.
I hope that is helpful?

All the best with your Dad's Army project,
John.Jacksarge Paintinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09859137774361915594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5162584379598890821.post-43377050539694131232016-02-07T16:29:30.387+11:002016-02-07T16:29:30.387+11:00How did you go about paint the glasses on these gu...How did you go about paint the glasses on these guys?
