US M10 Complete

I have been a bit slow on the wargames/modelling production front of late- got a bit distracted by some PC games and life in general. However I have completed the US M10 Tank Destroyer for my son's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON :)

If you remember from my last post, this is a resin Ready to Roll AFV with a converted crew made from Airfix & Italeri plastic figures. Most of the stowage is made of greenstuff apart from a jerrycan & shell from Sgts Mess. The loader figure is a plastic Airfix Marine who has had some replacement hands made of greenstuff so that he could hold a shell.

The whole thing was painted with acrylics- mostly Vallejo, but also artist's tube acrylics, Secret Weapon washes, and other assorted paints. Most of the weathering is done with paint effects with a bit of MiG European Dust for good measure and an 8B pencil for highlights on the tracks- the whole thing was then sprayed with Testors Dullcoat.

  4. Wow! Like, wow! Really nice work John. I'll get those MGs to you as soon as...

Any chance of a close up of the crew?

    1. Thanks Mr Nick, nice of you to say so. No hurry for the MGs.
The crew?....hmmm, I have to admit I didn't do a close up on purpose, because I thought the paintjob didn't stand up to closer examination.

  9. I agree with Paul. The weathering is amazing. I like how you painted it. It really is an epic piece of work done. Added your blog to my reading list for your epic stuff!

I only wish I could be just as good as you. I am not really a WWII fan but this is a real good looker. Have you done a M18 hellcat of these scale too?

As for me, I am more of a Modern Military Era Hobbyist that does Plastic model kits and wargaming miniatures. If you like what you see in terms of my array of cllectibles and all. Please do add me too!

    Once again, great painting!

    1. Thankyou for your kind comments.
I have never built a M18 hellcat, most of my stuff is British WW2 with a small amount of US & German thrown in.

  11. Very jelous I didn't have a father that gave me wonderfuly painted models when I grew up! Maybe you're interested in trading his for my M10 before giving it to him? ;)

    Keep it up!

    1. Thanks mate. I will look forward to seeing your gun tractors- are they for towing 17pdrs?
Yes, it's his birthday today, he's been busy reading the new Necron Codex we gave him.

    2. Yep, I got the them (17pdrs) from Britannia miniatures. They came out nicely. They're painted allright, but now I need to base them and put some crew on them (waiting for some AB figures to fill the task) :)

  13. Very nice work indeed! Your eyesight must be good - new hands on an Airfix marine!

  14. G'day & thanks. Wearing glasses and having a daylight bulb in my desklamp help with the eyesight :)

17th Century Characters...mostly

Here are some 17th Century character miniatures I finished recently.  28mm metal, mostly from Wargamer Poland: https://sklep.wargamer.pl/gb...
