I really like the sculpts by Colin Patten from Saxon Miniatures, they are great fun to paint & well researched - Colin knows his stuff. The shield in the centre - large stylised horse's head - is freehand, & based on a Rohan shield design I had seen in the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online. Might have to paint some more like that :-)
Here's a couple more warriors, this time from Black Tree Design. The Sutton Hoo helmeted figure has been slightly converted.
Finally here's the Sutton Hoo helmeted Blacktree Designs miniature with the original inserted to the right. I cut & drilled away the axe & replaced with a spear, had to slightly rebuild the hand with green-stuff. I added a shield & built the feet up with green-stuff as they were kind of tiny.
I hope you are still enjoying all these pictures of my Anglo Saxon collection....there's more to come.. :-)
Stunning work again John! Always nice to see your additions.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate! I just keep making these additions...Quite enjoy the odd conversion here and there too :-)
DeleteBeauty work like always :)
ReplyDeleteThank you sir! :-)
DeleteSarge- really great stuff! I especially am enjoying your choice of colors for tunics and the details on the cloaks. The colors stand out, yet look very "period".

Hi Thomas, thanks for the encouraging words! :-)
DeleteOnce again your attention to details is impressive, love the shields (Back and place), the horn and the faces...Outstanding!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated Phil, these minis were a real pleasure to paint.
DeleteLovely work, especially the shields!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod - well most of those shields are "Little Big Men Studios" decals.
DeleteReally Great !! Ciao Carlo
ReplyDeleteGrazie Carlo :-)
DeleteVery nice. Mightily impressed with the freehand on cloaks and shields.
ReplyDeleteCheers Alan. Freehand is certainly something I would like to develop a bit more.
