Three Churchills Completed

I have finished three Churchills now, two from Italeri (ex Esci) & one from Blitzkrieg Miniatures & thought you might like to see them. The markings are all hand painted to represent 31st Tank Brigade, 9th Battalion RTR- not sure if the names on the sides are accurate, but they'll do. I think they appeared in my last AAR, but here they are lined up to have their picture taken:

Blitzkrieg Miniatures resin Churchill

Suitably grubby.

Most of the stowage has been added from my own collection of bits n pieces.

At some stage I would like to add a Churchill Crocodile flamethrower tank to this lot. I'm pretty sure that the 31st Brigade acted in support of the 43rd Wessex at Hill 112 & surrounds.

  2. Thanks Paul, glad you like the weathering, it's one of those things where it is hard to know when you've done too little or too much.

  3. These look fantastic. I have been really impressed with what Ive seen of the BM offerings so far. I know its a bit late now but the MAFVA website has a spreadsheet of Churchill names. Not sure what units it covers as I dont have Excel any more... http://www.mafva.net/resources.htm

    Cheers, Dave

    1. Ere, enough of your cheek about the stylish, sleek Churchill, they were like graceful swans of the battlefield ;D
Yer, I guess they were kind of funny and chunky looking.
Great to hear from you mate, take care.

    1. Glad you like them Steve. No weathering pigments on these, just building up layers of earthy coloured paints for that grotty look.

  7. Great Models. Hill 112, Cornwall Hill! My father was in the DCLI in Tunisia and I was born in Newquay.

    1. Hi John, welcome to the blog & thanks for your comments. My 43rd Wessex connection comes from having lived in Dorset for over seven years- still miss it.

  8. They came out really well Jack. They blend together as if they're from the same manufacturer and that feeling comes out because of your work. Nice job, I like all the bits and pieces.

    1. Glad you like them T. Actually there was quite a few months between the assembly/painting of the first Italeri Churchill & the other two- thankfully my painting style didn't change much in that time :)

I was inspired by your words about "cages & keys", & I am trying to come up with a painting tutorial to give an idea of how I paint my figures.
